Who is the Assistant Accountant Apprenticeship for?

The Assistant Accountant Apprenticeship is for those that provide support to internal and external customers and will work predominately either as an assistant accountant within practice or alternatively within the finance function of an organisation. Part of their role will involve assisting in the day to day financial activities such as data entry to month end management accounts and/or year-end financial statements. In addition the Assistant Accountant may find themselves involved in regulatory financial requirements such as the completion of VAT returns or assisting in the preparation of tax computations.


Study Mode

  • Online with tutor led sessions

  • Blended learning with online and face to face sessions and support (at the employers premises)

  • There is an End Point Assessment for this Apprenticeship - This is when the Apprentice will demonstrate they have learnt the required knowledge, skills and behaviours.

As well as ensuring full competency as an Assistant Accountant, this standard provides the foundation for progression into a number of career paths in the Accounting sector including Audit Trainee, Corporate Recovery Analyst, Credit Controller or Tax Accountant.

How much does the Assistant Account Apprenticeship cost?

This programme costs £8,000 and is covered through a companies Apprenticeship Levy.

If the employer pays into the levy, the programme cost is fully covered through their levy contributions. For employers who do not pay into the levy, the payment structure is as follows:

  • Employers without a levy contribution will pay only 5% of the programme cost (£400) if the the apprentice is aged 22 or over.

  • Employers will receive full funding if the apprentice is aged 21 or under.
