Apprentice of the Month - March

To recognise the hard work of learners, our Tutors are nominating those who are doing exceptionally well throughout their apprenticeship to be awarded as our Apprentice of the Month.

Well done to our March Apprentice of the Month, Gareth Bulger! Gareth is currently completing his Level 3 Digital Engineering Technician Apprenticeship with Murphy’s Group and was nominated by LSP Tutor, Sarah White.

LSP Tutor, Sarah said:

“Gareth adapts his learning success as and when required. Recently he changed from taking the maths functional test online and with remote invigilation to doing it in person with another learner from another group while Mandy attended to invigilate. He took this opportunity as he identified this would help him more to achieve a successful result. As he was aware another colleague was to take the test at the same time he instigated study sessions with the learner to ensure a more productive learning environment. He has also taken the opportunity to carry out practical tasks for a surveying unit. This meant juggling assignment work and his day-to day activities to participate in this. He communicates with me every step of the way if there are any changes or concerns and keeps me in the loop with the developments. He demonstrates flexibility for himself, but also ensures others are included if required.”

“Gareth will always ensure he communicates with me to check he is carrying out his studies or attendance in the correct way. So informs me if he has to attend other appointments which takes him away from the teaching sessions. Despite his struggles to achieve L2 maths functional skills he has not avoided having to add additional study time to aim to pass this level. He has never used this need to put in the extra effort to achieve maths to diminish his excellent report writing for the units.”

“He cares about other learners in his group and will offer help in areas where his skills are strongest. For example, when AutoCAD skills were needed to be learnt he was more than happy to set up additional meetings outside of the study day and set up tutorial sessions within the teaching day.”

“He sets a very high standard for his assignments which inspires some other members of the group to extend a little bit further too.”

“You only have to see Gareth’s assignment submissions to understand how much he takes pride in his work. He consistently goes above and beyond what is asked of him to achieve the highest grades for the units.”
