Apprentice of the Month - May

To recognise the hard work of learners, our Tutors are nominating those who are doing exceptionally well throughout their apprenticeship to be awarded as our Apprentice of the Month.

Congratulations to our May Apprentice of the Month, Lucy Whiting. Lucy is currently completing her Level 2 Trade Supplier Apprenticeship with EDA Apprenticeships Plus and was nominated by her tutor, Damien, and Line Manager Adam.

Lucy is working in the UK’s electrical wholesale sector. Electrical wholesalers are the essential link in the supply chain between the manufacturers of electrotechnical products and the contractors and electricians who install them.

EDA Apprenticeships Plus manage the apprenticeship service on behalf of the Electrical Distributors’ Association (EDA), the trade association for UK electrical wholesalers.

Lucy’s Tutor, Damien said:

“Lucy began Trade Supplier L2 on 04/11/21, now 6 months in, Lucy has completed half of the knowledge modules and has completed these to a very high standard. Lucy has learnt various aspects in her job role and has adapted to try different things, including involvement in obtaining a new company vehicle. She has worked in most departments already and gathered a great understanding of the business and industry.”

“Lucy genuinely cares about the quality of her work and it shows through the written work she produces for her apprenticeship. During our meetings, she is always on time and completes work set on time.”

“Lucy cares about her organisation and, as Adam mentions, has stepped up when staff members have been off sick to support the business. She cares about the team she works with.”

“Lucy told me she independently researches products and the industry to help her own knowledge. This shows her determination to succeed. I have no doubts that she will progress in the future, it is inspiring to see her progressing in such a short amount of time.”

“Lucy is progressing through her course at a rapid pace, without compromising on quality. Today we reviewed a mock test she had completed and scored 28/30 which would earn a distinction, which is excellent for her first attempt.”

Lucy’s Line Manager, Adam said:

“I completely agree, she would be a worthy winner of learner of the month award.

She is heavily involved in all aspects of the business and is really becoming trusted by customers and peers, which is incredible for the short time she has worked here. She is constantly sorting customers orders, providing solutions to customers problems with her knowledge and great, friendly service. In a time where we have been short staffed, she has really stepped up and delivered, ensuring we are still growing as a business.

Potential wise, she could definitely be a future manager if she keeps working hard and learning.”
