Apprentice of the Month - November
To recognise the hard work of learners, our Tutors are nominating those who are doing exceptionally well throughout their apprenticeship to be awarded as our Apprentice of the Month.
Well done to Alistair Whitby for being nominated as our November Apprentice of the Month by his tutor Maurice. After taking on a management role Alistair chose to complete a Level 3 Team Leader Supervisor apprenticeship with his employer Lloyd Motor Group which he successfully completed this year with a Distinction. Alistair has made a huge success of the opportunity and put the things he has learned from his apprenticeship into practice. He has not only the strength of character and the courage of his convictions to make changes, but also the people management skills to bring others with him on the journey.
Alistair’s tutor Maurice said:
“Alistair threw himself into this programme with enthusiasm. He started to apply the learning from the course into the business.”
“Alistair was keen to make a success of the business and he was an ideal student. He never stopped asking questions and always looking to find ways to influence the staff and improve moral. He introduced team briefings as he wanted to communicate and keep the team up to date with progress. He also decided to bring in reviews/appraisals and performance management as well as setting up team building sessions at a nearby hotel to go through objectives of the business with staff.”
“Alistair realises that the support he has had throughout the programme and from colleagues and myself have helped him climb this mountain. The energy, commitment and drive that has come from him has been tremendous. He has just completed the certificate and obtained an overall Distinction. From an individual who had never been in a management position before, to take on this role and surpass all expectations is fantastic.”
