Apprentice of the Month - October
To recognise the hard work of learners, our Tutors are nominating those who are doing exceptionally well throughout their apprenticeship to be awarded as our Apprentice of the Month.
Congratulations to our October Apprentice of the Month, Joe Sproston! Joe is currently completing his Level 3 Team Leader/ Supervisor programme with Motus Commercials and was nominated by his Tutor, Chris.
Joe’s Tutor, Chris said:
“During a recent progress review, Joe demonstrated the time management system he’s put in place, based on additional work/researching leading on from our session, which was truly a work of art! He completely embraced the theory in action, recognising the importance of managing his programme with high workloads, and presented a fully integrated system with new software in place and linking his diary to his task list, which now enables him to be more effective and efficient in everything that he does! This has allowed him to maintain ‘on target’ with his apprenticeship while fully engaging with his PD plan, KPIs at work, and dealing with all those important issues that he previously didn’t have time to address. His line manager also commented on the use of the ‘agenda’ task list to park ideas to be discussed rather than e-mail/chat, which is enabling more meaningful conversations at the appropriate place and time. The work produced at Level 3 is what I would expect of a Level 5 portfolio!”
“Joe embraces Motus values and is understanding the connection between supporting people and working in a financially responsible way. He is currently working on a project to support financial awareness, which ultimately supports the values of Motus while not compromising his focus on supporting his team!”
“The most recent review really showcased Joe’s relationships with his manager and it was clear how much he values feedback, enjoys working with people, and cares deeply about supporting his manager, staff, and customers! Joe took the time to share some of his past experience and how he’s developed an understanding of mental health, which is why he takes the time to build a connection and support staff who are struggling. I ended the review by letting Joe know that he could always come to me (or our safeguarding officer) if he ever has any personal mental health issues arising, and he very genuinely offered the same in return, if I ever needed someone to talk to!”
“Joe’s manager, Duncan, commented on how Joe’s new time management system, which he learned from the ‘Management of Self’ unit, has led to conversations that have impacted wider ways of working within the organisation that wouldn’t have otherwise been possible if Joe simply carried on with his previous way of working. He is really using the apprenticeship standard to fully develop his way of working, which is a pleasure to see!”
“Most recently, Joe presented a high quality PD Plan which clearly shows his understanding of why decisions are made – and why he is making decisions towards his career development. He linked this into a 360 degree appraisal form with consideration of feedback from a range of sources and presented high quality evidence, with good use of supporting images, along with explanations that put his skills based evidence in context.”
