See what Josh has to say about his apprenticeship experience so far:
Tell us about your current role
“I currently work at Electric Centre in Brentwood as a Branch Assistant. I am in charge of the warehouse, goods in, booking in, filing, setting up customers terms and away sales.”
What attracted you to a career of this kind?
“I wanted to start earning money, get into the working world, and be able to work my way up from my position into a higher role.”
How did you get into your role after school?
“I started Sixth Form to study Psychology, Law and Criminology which I then left to start my apprenticeship.”
What do you like about your Apprenticeship?
“It’s a good place to work and I get a lot of information. I enjoy the people there and talking to all of the customers. It’s a good industry and company to be in. My Tutor Lucky is really helpful.
I have learnt so much. Before my apprenticeship I didn’t know anything about how businesses work or the electrical side. I have learnt so much about the system itself and in general about the products I am selling. I have definitely gained a lot of knowledge.”
If you were speaking to someone thinking of completing an Apprenticeship, what advice would you give them?
“Just work your hardest and be up for anything.”
Why do you think employers should offer Apprenticeship opportunities?
“I think all employers should offer Apprenticeships because it allows for candidates to get comfortable with their systems and work up into a full-time job. Instead of employing them off the bat it allows them to work up and get better knowledge on how the business works.”
Do you have any advice for candidates going for an apprentice interview?
“Just be confident, go for it and be honest. Always have a smile on your face.”
