I am currently an Apprentice Construction Site Supervisor at National Highways, working in the construction industry. In my day-to-day role, I monitor health and safety regulations by conducting site inspections, communicate with contractors, suppliers, and site workers to keep the project on schedule, and learn from experienced supervisors about project management, risk assessment, and compliance.

My Construction Site Supervisor Apprenticeship will have a significant impact on my career by providing hands-on experience, industry qualifications, and career progression opportunities. By completing the apprenticeship, I gain recognised certifications that enhance my employability and open doors to higher positions such as Site Manager, Project Manager, or Health & Safety Officer.

I enjoy being on-site and working alongside the principal contractors and principal designer. I thrive in a team environment and take great satisfaction in collaborating with others to successfully complete projects.

In my opinion, the benefits of being an apprentice include earning while learning, gaining hands-on industry experience, and obtaining recognised qualifications without student debt. They also enhance employability by developing both technical skills and real-world problem-solving abilities.

I would recommend an apprenticeship to others because it provides hands-on experience, industry-recognised qualifications, and a clear career progression path while allowing me to earn a salary. It offers the opportunity to learn directly from experienced professionals, develop essential skills in site supervision, health and safety, and project management, and gain real-world experience that makes me job-ready.

I believe employers should hire Apprentice Site Supervisors to help bridge the age gap in this role. With many experienced professionals nearing retirement, there is a significant opportunity for the younger generation to step in, develop essential skills, and build long-term careers in construction.
