Who is the Surveying Technician Apprenticeship for?

The occupations covered by this standard are associated with surveying technicians acting on behalf of clients or employers in an assistant capacity. The types of surveying technician included are:

  • Building Surveying Technicians

  • Commercial Property Surveying Technicians

  • Residential Property Surveying Technicians

  • Land Surveying Technicians (including rural, minerals and waste management and planning and development)

  • Valuation Surveying Technicians

  • Consultant (Professional) Quantity Surveying Technicians

  • Consultant (Professional) Project Management Technicians


Study Mode

  • Online weekly Tutor led sessions with a blended learning approach:

    • Group Activities

    • Individual Tasks

    • Research

    • Tutorials - 1:1 support / feedback on assignment

    • Referrals

    • Standards - Evidence gathering

  • Over the duration of the Apprenticeship there is one mandatory and one optional block release (2 ½ days each) at LSP’s offices.

  • There is an End-Point-Assessment for this apprenticeship. This is when the learner will demonstrate they have learnt the required knowledge, skills and behaviours. A RICS accredited counsellor is required to support the application.

Duration

The duration of this apprenticeship is typically 24 months.

  • Level 3 Surveying Technician Apprenticeship

    • Awarding Body - RICS

  • BTEC Level 3 National Diploma in Construction and the Built Environment

    • Awarding Body - Pearson

  • Functional Skills English and maths (if required)

Start Date

New cohorts commence every 3-4 months.

Progression Opportunities

The apprenticeship will provide the necessary knowledge skills and behaviours for successful apprentices to become Associate members of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (AssocRICS).

How much does the Surveying Technician Apprenticeship cost?

This programme costs £9,000 and is covered through a companies Apprenticeship Levy.

If the employer pays into the levy, the programme cost is fully covered through their levy contributions. For employers who do not pay into the levy, the payment structure is as follows:

  • Employers without a levy contribution will pay only 5% of the programme cost (£450) if the the apprentice is aged 22 or over.

  • Employers will receive full funding if the apprentice is aged 21 or under.
