Alex White - JCT600

Tell us about your current role

My current role at JCT600 is Customer Service Advisor. In this role I speak to customers daily and the purpose of my role is to successfully convert customer enquiries into bookings for the workshop, this could include MOT’s and other maintenance and diagnostic work. As well as that I also gain accurate information for future prospect opportunities.

How did you find settling into your role?

I found settling in difficult as it was a very new environment than what I am used to as I have never experienced anything like this before. As part of my induction, I was taken to Aston Martin Leeds to see how they work day-to-day. This was helpful as it already gave me a better understanding of what happens at dealerships, but also how JCT600 work together with the prestige brands.

What new skills have you learnt?

I have learnt many skills since being here at JCT600 but the main one is that I have built up a technical knowledge portfolio. At the end of my apprenticeship I will have a full understanding of what customers’ needs are and how to help them.

What attracted you to a career of this kind?

The main thing that attracted me to this role was that it was something different and out of my comfort zone, but most importantly that the motor industry will always have opportunities.

What do you like about your apprenticeship? How you do you find LSP and your tutor?

The main thing I like about my apprenticeship is that I am learning whilst I am earning. I find LSP interesting, helpful and a great way to learn. The main thing I enjoy is LSP’s theme of the month as you get to see how everyone responds on the forum.

If you were speaking to someone thinking of doing an apprenticeship, what advice would you give them?

The advice I would give them is that it is the best way to learn in my opinion as you are learning nonstop on the job. As well as that I believe it is the best way to build up knowledge and skills in the company you are in.

What have you enjoyed most about the apprenticeship so far?

The main thing I have enjoyed so far is the environment I work in as it is so friendly and the whole team is welcoming. As well as that I have enjoyed growing my knowledge and getting that first-hand experience of what a real working environment is and where my career could go.
