Well done to Estelle Clarissa Ebony Lutchmaya who has been awarded as our Apprentice of the Month in January! Estelle is currently completing her Level 3 Business Administration Apprenticeship with Morgan’s Direct Ltd.

Estelle’s Line Manager said:

“Estelle joined us as a customer service receptionist and is continually eager to learn and understand the different roles within our business and how current pandemic is reshaping the entire working/e-commerce industry and key functions within our business, she has participated in product purchasing discussions providing valued input and ideas and she can even see how there is many roles that may suit her for the future as the company grows and expands.”

“We have reviewed her skills and decided as she is good at prioritising, we have given Estelle additional responsibilities with a view of her progressing herself and her role within the company to hopefully become a permanent key asset within the company this is feeding her desire for knowledge and understand of which she already has a lot, but is now seeing it in action adding to her skills and enabling her to feel more confident in her role and when communicating internally or externally with other members.”

“If you have met her then you know she always possesses a huge smile on her which has been contagious within the team and much needed in these times, I have shown her that when you smile and talk on the phone the recipient can feel/hear this which she never realised as she naturally does it and now is almost always first to answer the phone to which our suppliers and customers have commented on her enthusiasm and professionalism in her mannerism.”

“The key purpose for Estelle is to provide first line support to the customers queries and divert any queries not in her remit to the correct persons/department handling them effectively allowing us to focus on growing and expanding our company, without her the growth levels would not be possible as she is the first contact for any quires which would tie us up and not allow us to expand and increase the business or do an injustice not providing the customers the relevant time and service, with her in a relatively short space of time we can see she has taken on a lot of the key roles and responsibilities naturally it is like she was destined to become part of the Morgan’s Direct Family.”

“WHY / WHAT / HOW / WHEN regularly starts her questions with these words which in turn has inspired/taught other members of the team questions they may have wanted to ask, but she also retains the answers and regularly further questions answers provided or when an answer is provided it is swiftly followed with a How or Why demonstrating she has understood the process and you can see that she seems to understand how the process works then looks to see if it can be simplified not just settling for an answer provided enhancing her knowledge and understanding of the business inspiring other members of staff within the team.”

“During the run up to the Christmas season, she understood key responsibility to provide support to customer queries especially as she started around this time, so it was the deep end to be honest and also the disruptions to the Postal Networks and Amazon couriers, and to provide reassurance to customers about orders, chase up the Amazon Claims department so the company does not lose out on resending items. From the moment she starts work there is no need to check unless she questions something but before she questions anything, she does try to ascertain the answer herself but her work is of a good high standard and there is steady progress and improvement, if several task have been set for her she will let you know when each task is fully complete demonstrating her understanding of her responsibilities and the importance of them. She can be trusted to be given several tasks at the beginning of the day and also as our business is a reactive one she is also able to prioritise and complete the additional tasks including her original tasks set out which is a real benefit and progressing her way to becoming a key asset and key member to the team. Recently she had been in contact with a member of the family who tested positive and was working from home, the hours were met the work was to a high standard and more importantly I was kept in the loop via messaging and emails, but she adapted to the situation at hand, equally as important the office did feel an emptiness without her bubbly personality around.”

“Estelle took it upon her self to place the returns back in the correct locations within the warehouse to give her a better understanding of the products the company sells and to be able to understand the nature of enquires from customers by enhancing her knowledge of the items, this to me demonstrated her willingness to learn and never give up furthermore now she picks out 2-3 items a week that she likes and tells us why she likes these items her enthusiasm whilst engaging with customers and the team has most definitely increased as we can see she is more confident when talking about our items, she does not regurgitate my answers to the questions you can see she understands it and then rewords it for the intended audience. She has demonstrated that she is a very switched on / engaged young individual who will be successful at what every she puts her hand to and if she does not know how is not frightened to ask for help.”

“I wanted to also say it is very refreshing to see a young individual in this day and age who has a very mature outlook she is determined, bubbly and is not often phased by scenario’s or situations she as never faced, there have been instances that part of our back office systems have gone down due to unforeseen circumstances and you never get Estelle looking to wait until they are back on again she will find on her own accord another task to complete whilst we work on getting the systems back up and running.

She is forever learning feeding her hunger to learn and be great at her career absorbing everything like a sponge.

She has bought a little laughter and bubbliness to the team and has built a good rapport with customers, suppliers, and the whole team. Including our regular Flex Friday Drive afternoon’s, a radio station we all listen to in the office on Friday’s.

She is an inspiration to all young people aspiring to obtain qualifications through the workplace and demonstrates that if you present yourself well with a positive mental can-do attitude you can fit in anywhere, as I could see one of her uncomfortable moments was that she is the youngest and you could see that she felt she may not be able to fit in, now she has seen passed this and gets on with our whole team and is actually apart of the team and has gelled well within the company.”

Congratulations Estelle for this amazing nomination. A huge well done for being so enthusiastic to learn and progress in your role. We are sure you will have a very bright future with Morgan’s Direct!
