International Epilepsy Day 2021 - E&D Theme of the Month

International Epilepsy Day is celebrated annually on the 2nd Monday of February. This day was founded in 2015 by the International Bureau for Epilepsy (IBE) and the International League Against Epilepsy (ILAE). It is an opportunity to seek awareness and educate the public on the facts about epilepsy, how it can be treated and the urgent need for improved treatment, better care, and greater investment in research into the condition.

Each year people from all over the world join together to celebrate and highlight the problems faced by people with epilepsy, their families and carers. Despite being one of the world's oldest known medical conditions, public fear and misunderstanding about epilepsy remains, making many people hesitant to talk about it.
