Apprentice of the Month - March

To recognise the hard work of learners, our Tutors are nominating those who are doing exceptionally well throughout their apprenticeship to be awarded as our Apprentice of the Month.

Congratulations to our March Apprentice of the Month, Hannah Masters! Hannah is currently completing her Level 4 Quantity Surveying Technician Apprenticeship with Mactaggart & Mickel and was nominated by her Tutor, Angela.

Hannah’s Tutor, Angela said:

“Hannah has adapted very well in returning to learning after a while away from it.  At first, she was a little concerned that she had lost the knack of completing assignments, undertaking research and putting together a suitable response to the questions.

She had nothing to worry about at all.

Hannah very quickly adapted to lessons, very quickly assimilated the information and demonstrates every week her ability to be flexible in her approach, think outside the box, go the extra mile and make the right choices for everything she does.”

“When working, Hannah is always certain to do the right thing. She ensures that everybody working with her is recognised for their efforts and willingly promotes the excellent work from her fellow students.”

“The Construction Industry is reliant upon teamwork and this is certainly something that is at the heart of everything Hannah does. She is very people-centred and is always willing to help others in achieving the best they can achieve.  Whether this is in remote meeting groups on Teams or in person during block weeks away.

Hannah is also very able to ask for help from others when she doesn’t understand something, which fosters a great working relationship with all those around her.

They know they can count on her for support and guidance when they need it and because of her open and outgoing nature, everybody is always willing to reciprocate.  It is never a one-way street where Hannah is concerned; she willingly gives more than she receives.”

“I am inspired by many students, and Hannah is no exception.  She often asks the questions others are thinking but afraid to ask; often simplifying the question to be sure everybody around her understands both question and answer, which may be for my benefit now I come to think about it.

Because of the questions, Hannah keeps digging until she is sure she has the right answer and even repeats it back for the benefit of understanding for other apprentices.  This is quite a remarkable thing to do as it underpins her own understanding and translates information for others too.  What’s more, I don’t even think she realises she does this, and how appreciative the others in the group are.”

“Passion for everything Hannah does is very evident.  She has a great range of different life experiences and loves to talk about them too.  I was impressed to learn about her campervan jaunts, especially some of those that have long been on my own wish list.  I was also impressed that her desire to learn more about her job and to see the sites she has been working on led her to a trip to Scotland and a little tour of the sites up there.

I can see Hannah takes pride in everything she does from simple in-class tasks she is given all the way to the highest quality and standard of work she presents in her assignment work.  I can also tell how she takes pride in her work too by the way she talks about it and how she explains in great detail the sort of activities she does at work.

I have already mentioned that I am very impressed with Hannah and, should she be selected at Apprentice of the Month, it will be a well-deserved accolade for her and one I know will also be recognised at work and within her very caring and considerate company.”

Hannah’s Line Manager, Neill said:

“Hannah has shown a great ability to quickly absorb information and then practically apply this when carrying out her role.  Although she is titled an “Assistant” she has the abilities beyond this term.”

“Hannah is a delight to work with.  She brings and applies professionalism and enthusiasm to all the projects where she is involved, both internally, and importantly, externally through developing positive, strong relationships with the supply chain, which is crucial in our industry.”

“Hannah has been eager to improve several of our document resources with the aim to achieve improved effectiveness and efficiencies, not for her benefit but that of her colleagues and the company. This has been carried out quickly, efficiently and accurately. This has been mirrored on numerous occasions on varying tasks and projects.”

“I look forward to Hannah continuing to develop, and strongly believe, if she were to win this accolade, this would boost her confidence in her abilities and would be well deserved recognition for the efforts she has applied in not only her education, but her work role too.”
