A big well done to Uzma Pathan who has been chosen as our Apprentice of the Month in May! Uzma is currently completing her Level 3 Business Administration Apprenticeship Standard with Kier and continues to receive amazing feedback from her manager and Tutor, Hersha.

Uzma’s manager said:

“Uzma has the perfect approach to new learning new tasks and is a fantastic role model for what we need from an apprentice. I can let her get on with her tasks without having to micromanage her.”

“Uzma’s work ensures that jobs get completed on time in a working environment where time is key for emergency works and performance measures. She sets a good example to her other team members. Her efforts have been noticed by senior management all the way up to Dave Brown who is our contract manager who has praised her on her 100% permitting record (something that is generally quite difficult to achieve).”

“Uzma is responsible for permitting jobs as well as helping us avoid fines from them. She also helps with supporting our cyclical maintenance activities, raising orders for our client from inspections, liaising with our tree, lining and gully cleaning subcontractors and other key
admin functions.”

“Uzma is always focused on her tasks and isn’t afraid to ask questions. She is also capable of organising her day to prioritise important tasks over less important tasks which is another key skill we look for in good team members. This has especially been obvious with the current Covid 19 outbreak where she has had to work from home. In this environment she continues to perform and put out a great deal of work.”

Uzma’s Tutor said:

“Uzma has been amazing learner who as understood what she needed to do from our first visit. Objectives set to her from our visit have also been met with exceptional standards. She is already showing me she can progress to the next level.”

“She has produced amazing quality of work for her portfolio and has completed her project 3 months before EPA. Her understanding of the course allowed her to complete the criteria to meet a distinction grade!”

“Uzma has been an amazing role model to the other apprentices in Kier. She has been helping and supporting them with the evidence they can gather for their portfolio. She has been really helpful and received really good feedback from the other apprentices.”

“Uzma and I completed our last review through Microsoft Teams. We recorded this session and she was fully engaged taking notes. She also shared her screen. It was great to hear good feedback about the remote review visit. We have planned to do this more in the future.”

Uzma has clearly made a big impact at Keir and continues to support the business and her colleagues, a very worthy winner, well done!
