At LSP, we believe that great leadership is the cornerstone of every successful apprenticeship journey. This month, we are thrilled to celebrate a special individual who has made a remarkable impact on their apprentice’s learning experience. Nominated by his own apprentice, Stuart has been recognised for his unwavering support and mentorship.
Michael, who is currently completing his Level 3 Digital Engineering Technician Apprenticeship with J Murphy & Sons, shared why he nominated Stuart:
“As an Apprentice CAD Technician undergoing a Digital Engineering Technician Apprenticeship, I have had the privilege of working closely with Stuart, and his mentorship has significantly influenced my professional development.
From the very beginning, Stuart paired with me as a buddy, dedicating considerable time to teaching me AutoCAD 2D. His patient and thorough instruction has been crucial in helping me quickly develop strong technical skills. Additionally, Stuart introduced me to ProjectWise, guiding me through its complexities and ensuring I became proficient in its use.
Stuart's welcoming and inclusive nature made my transition into the team seamless. He fostered an environment where I felt comfortable seeking guidance and asking questions. His continuous support and constructive feedback have been instrumental in my growth, always providing help when needed and ensuring I stay on track.
One of Stuart's most remarkable qualities is his unwavering positivity and passion for his job. His dedication to producing high-quality work is inspiring, and he instils the same level of commitment in his team. Stuart genuinely wants me to thrive in my role, and his belief in my potential has been pivotal in building my confidence and shaping me into the technician I am today.
Stuart has provided me with massive opportunities to learn and grow within the business. He has introduced me to new software like MicroStation and Civil 3D AutoCAD and involved me in significant projects like the HS2 project. These experiences have been invaluable in expanding my knowledge and skills.
I have recently been nominated for the Most Promising Apprentice at the prestigious CECA Awards, I was the only apprentice at my level out of the whole company to be put forward and he shared this with the whole company on our website. Stuart recognises and acknowledges my achievements and he does this for the whole team.
I couldn’t have got to the level I am at now without Stuart so I am very grateful for everything he has done for me.
In summary, Stuart exemplifies what it means to be an exceptional line manager. His dedication, positivity, and unwavering support have had a profound impact on my professional journey, and I believe he is truly deserving of the Line Manager of the Month Award. I want to be as good as him and at his level one day that is how much I look up to him as a mentor and manager, he’s made me the person/technician I am today.
Stuart excels in maintaining agility within our team. He quickly adapts to changing circumstances and ensures that our team remains responsive to new challenges. For example, when we were introduced to new projects that require the software MicroStation Stuart seamlessly integrated these tools into our workflow by making sure everyone had done the MicroStation training and kept a shared excel sheet to see how people were progressing. With that he provided us with the necessary training and support to adapt swiftly.
One of Stuart's standout qualities is his ability to provide clear and concise direction. He effectively communicates project goals and expectations, ensuring that each team member understands their role and responsibilities. This clarity has been crucial in maintaining our productivity and achieving project milestones, such as our involvement in the HS2 project.
Stuart is adept at making priority decisions quickly and efficiently. He evaluates situations with a keen eye for what is most important and acts decisively to address urgent matters. His quick decision-making has often prevented potential issues from escalating and kept our projects on track.Stuart's flexibility in his management approach is another key strength.
