Line Manager of the Month - September

To recognise the continuous encouragement provided by line managers, our learners and tutors are nominating those who are offering outstanding support to be in for a chance of being awarded as the Line Manager of the Month.

Congratulations to Kelly Sirmond for being awarded as our Line Manager of the Month in September!

Kelly was nominated by her learner Chloe Jones who is currently completing her Level 2 Business Administration apprenticeship with Bristol Street Motors.

Chloe said:

“Kelly always engages me when it comes to learning something new. If she has a task that needs completing that I haven’t learnt yet she will always get excited as it is something new for me to learn. She will allow me to watch over her and take notes while she slowly completes the process and explains it along the way. She will then allow me to have a go while she overwatches and then in the future when that process needs undergoing again she will always engage me and ask if I would like to give it a go or if I want to watch over her doing it again until I feel more confident.”

“Kelly is a great listener. She always listens to the way in which I feel I work the best and she will fully adapt what we are doing to fit my learning style. She listens when I feel as if it is too much information to take in and she also listens when I tell her I’m ready to learn more. Kelly is new to being a manager and having an apprentice so she often asks for my input for any ways she can improve for me as she wants me to get the most out of this opportunity so I can progress and learn as much as possible.”

“Kelly is always encouraging me to learn more and to step out of my comfort zone occasionally to do something new. At the beginning I was very nervous when it came to making phone calls but thanks to Kelly’s constant encouragement and reassurance, I started to do this and it is now something that I can do confidently and comfortably. Without Kelly’s constant encouragement I don’t feel as if I could have found the confidence to do a lot of the things that I am able to do today.”

“Kelly values me as a person which means that we have an amazing relationship which is great to have with your manager. I feel that me being valued makes me want to learn more and I feel a lot more motivated to go to work and put in those extra hours when needed. Being valued allows me to be able to enjoy my job and it makes me feel a lot more confident as an individual because I am getting the recognition for undergoing good work and I’m being recognised when I succeed.”

“Kelly is a very accountable person. She always states that I am her responsibility. This means that she takes teaching me very seriously as she wants me to be able to learn everything possible during my year long apprentice and she feels as if she is completely responsible for doing that. She has been great at teaching me everything I know so far and she is rearing to teach me even more. She always makes the working environment a fun one by making jokes and applying learning methods which are personal to me. She has taught me to really love my job and over the time being there I have only grown in confidence and I really look forward to learning more each day.”

“When it comes to trust Kelly is always the first person I would go to if I was to have any issues be these be work related or personal. The trust me and Kelly have formed over the months of us working alongside each other really shows. Kelly is able to actually use her holidays and trust that everything will be taken care of at the dealership and I can trust that everything will be set up in place for me during the time she is away. I also feel as if I can trust Kelly to tell her any personal issues I may be having/had as speaking to someone can really make you feel better mentally and Kelly is always there to listen and help in anyway at all possible.”

“Kelly is a very effective manager as she has been amazing when it comes to teaching me something completely new. She has managed to adapt everything to me personally so I am able to learn new tasks effectively and quickly. I have picked up this new job role really quickly as I have learnt a lot to say that I was on furlough for quite a long time. The reason for me learning so well and quickly is due to the effectiveness of the teaching from Kelly.”

I really don’t feel as if I could have had a better manager than Kelly. She has made this process an enjoyable one and has really made me fall in love with the job. I feel that the passion Kelly has for the job has really had an effect on me and made me feel the same. This experience has really taught me that; you can have a job that you love, you can get up every morning looking forward to your day, and that no task is too big or too hard it’s all just the way you look at it. A positive mind means a positive life.”

A huge well done Kelly for the fantastic nomination! It’s great to hear how much Chloe loves her job and the amount of support and encouragement she receives in order to develop in her role.
