Get to know the the LSP Team

As part of a regular feature we would like to give an insight into the LSP team members. It is always nice to find out a little more about those we work alongside and many of our staff have a wealth of knowledge, interests and hobbies that would really surprise you!

Meet Bob Wheatley

BTEC Exams Officer and Tutor

What sort of duties do you have at work?

My job role is BTEC Exams Officer and Tutor. This includes all registrations and claims for students on BTEC courses. Uploading EPA materials for Ground workers L2 to NOCN, and L3 students to appropriate EPAO's. Delivering all units to L3 and L4 students plus additional 1-2-1 for transfers from other agencies. This includes prep, delivery and assessing as well as assessing NVQ L3. I also write units for L3 and L4 to upload onto Canvas and plan for awarding body exams etc.

What is the most exciting part of your job?

Claiming certificates for students who have worked hard and achieved more than they expected at the start, seeing the result and students moving on to better things.

What is the best place you have travelled to?

I have sons living in Chicago and Mexico City, both are fantastic places especially seeing them from the local and not tourist perspectives. Like in Mexico City, eating breakfast with the locals in the middle of a street at a street cafe.

Do you have any pets?

I have two dogs and a cat. My wife Sue trains both dogs for agility events and has just been accepted on the local team for agility to enter Crufts with the young one.

What do you do in your spare time (if you have any)?

Play computer games.

What is your greatest achievement?

Getting through the last 12 months and finding how many good people are out there.

What is the dream car you would love to drive?

Not so much a car as one is very much like another, but I would go for a WW2 German Tiger tank.

The best piece of advice you would give to your 16-year-old self?

Now that you have left school is when you really start learning, and never put off tomorrow what you can do today.
