LSP Team Development - Eleanor
At LSP we pride ourselves on the continuous development of our staff. Many team members began their journey as an Apprentice and have gone on to secure rewarding roles within the business, completing numerous qualifications and progressing within their chosen role.
Meet Eleanor, LSP’s Administrator, who started with the business in 2018. Here she describes her career journey, the experience working with the team at LSP and her advice to those looking to kick start their career.
Since starting with LSP, what career journey have you been on?
“My journey with LSP started back in 2018 when I was recruited as a Business Administration Apprentice. My main roles at this time were assisting with general admin queries, checking compliance, booking hotels and booking tests. I completed my Level 2 Business Administration Apprenticeship in August 2019.
In late 2019, I took on a wider variety of roles and became solely responsible for the administration department. I am now responsible for all the administration at LSP. My most important job role is processing. I am responsible for processing all starts and completions that come in. A big part of my role is to support the tutors and the wider team with a wide range of different queries, I work very closely with all teams within the business. I have a very varied range of job responsibilities but I enjoy all aspects of my role.
In 2020, I enrolled onto a Level 3 Business Administration Apprenticeship. I am yet to complete this, I am hoping to achieve this early next year.”
What is your current role? What does an average week look like for you?
“I am responsible for all administration tasks at LSP. My job role mainly focuses on processing all starts, completions, BIL’s and withdrawals in time for every monthly data return. I also register learners with awarding bodies, check compliance, carry out audits on new enrolments and support the wider team with any queries they have.
A normal week for me is quite varied but I enjoy being able to switch between a wide range of job roles. I particularly enjoy working so closely with the wider team, I am always supporting various colleagues so it’s nice to get to speak with everyone on a regular basis. Data return weeks are usually very hectic for me but I enjoy the sense of achievement I get each month when this has been processed and submitted.”
How has completing apprenticeships helped you to succeed in your career?
“Completing my Level 2 enabled me to gain the basic skills and knowledge to progress within my job role. It taught me how to adapt to different processes and how to successfully carry out basic admin roles. Since enrolling onto my Level 3, I am learning more in depth knowledge that relates to my role. I enjoy this level as it teaches me a wider range of knowledge that is more applicable to my role now it is more advanced.”
What is it like working with LSP?
“I enjoy working at LSP a lot. The whole team is very close and we all help each other with anything anyone may need. In tough times, the team has pulled together to support one another. I love being able to enjoy myself and have a laugh at work with my colleagues. I am well supported within my own role and I know there is plenty of development opportunities for me within LSP.”
What are your next career steps?
“After my Level 3, I would like to progress onto a more advanced qualification. I would quite like to do qualification relating to management or team leading if I get more people within my team. I would also like to complete my IAG course. There are lots of qualifications I could progress onto to enhance my knowledge.”
What advice would you give to someone looking to begin their career journey?
“I would definitely recommend that people enrol onto an apprenticeship to start off their career. Learning on the job, in my opinion, is the best way to learn. You also have the reassurance that you are likely to have a permanent job at the end of your apprenticeship too. Learning and earning money at the same time is also really motivating. Ensuring you work for a company who values their staff is also really important.”
