Meet Lucky Grewal

Tutor

What sort of duties do you have at work?

My duties involve managing a caseload of learners in getting them through their qualification over a set period of time whether that is 12, 15 or 18 months. I provide TL, coaching and tutoring to my learners to make sure that they get the best support possible and achieve the best grade too. My other duties involve keeping all admin such as paperwork and reviews up to date with my learners and providing updates to my team members regarding my learners’ progress.

What is the most exciting part of your job?

The most exciting thing for me is using my previous background and experience as an apprentice who has done 3 qualifications to use that to my advantage and provide support to my learners and seeing that journey from start to finish and the growth the learners make during that time.

What is the best place you have travelled to?

The best place I have travelled too would be Bali with my wife for our honeymoon.

Do you have any hidden talents or hobbies?

I don’t have any particular talents.

Do you have any pets?

No pets so far but my wife and son would like a dog at some point.

What do you do in your spare time (if you have any)?

I like to play on the PS5 and also watch Bollywood movies. During the Covid period I have started watching films in other languages in India including Tamil and Telugu.

What is your greatest achievement?

My greatest achievement for me is most probably building my career, especially at a time where when I left school university was the main route people would take and I chose not to and ended up doing an apprenticeship where it was less known then and build my skills and experience in the education industry to have a wealth of knowledge which has helped me a lot.

What is the dream car you would love to drive?

My history with cars is not great which most people know so to be honest as long as I have a car that works that is the most important thing. I have however purchased a new car (Mercedes A-Class)

The best piece of advice you would give to your 16-year-old self?

I would say only go to university if you will actually benefit from going and not just go to have fun or to do a business course. You are better off doing an apprenticeship in that case and get the experience as well.
