World Autism Awareness Day 2021 - E&D Theme of the Month
World Autism Awareness Day aims to increase awareness and educate the public about people and especially children who have autism. It is a great opportunity to develop world knowledge about autism and highlight how important it is to detect an early diagnosis.
World Autism Awareness Day has been celebrated on 2nd April since 2007. On this day we celebrate the amazing achievements and accomplishments of people who have autism.
Autism affects both men and women of all races all around the world. It has an especially large impact on children and is extremely common. This is why it is so important to raise awareness.
Autism statistics:
- It is estimated that there are around 700,000 people in the UK, including one in 100 children, with a diagnosis of autism spectrum disorder.
- 21.7% of adults with autism in the UK are in any form of paid employment
- 60%-70% of people who are on the autistic spectrum condition will also have a learning disability
- Almost 1% of the population is estimated to have an autism spectrum condition, with more men than women affected.
